Stewart Wurtz has his studio located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, an area known locally as the "Center of the Universe". His shop overlooks Lake Union and Seattle's downtown, with a glimpse of Mt. Rainier on a good day. Stewart's work offers the finest in craftsmanship and design for handmade furniture, with an emphasis on sustainable materials. From a young age he has been involved in the design and fabrication of objects using both wood and metal, in a sculptural, harmonious relationship. He studied Furniture Design and Woodworking at Boston University's Program in Artisanry (BFA 1984) and went on to develop his distinctive modern, minimalist style. With over 30 years of experience, Stewart excels at adapting his design aesthetic to meet his clients' needs. His furniture appears in several prominent collections across the U.S. Commissioning furniture by Stewart is commissioning an artist to create something fresh and current, yet timeless and enduring.
